What a crock.
I hope managment reads this and everyone boycotts Utopia.
I took my friend tonight(his first time to a massage parlour); can you imagine your first time and he was jipped.
We made appointments. I showed up 5 minutes late, and he
showed up 15 minutes late. His MPA told him that since he showed up 15 minutes late that he only had 15 minutes for his massage. Can you imagine this crock of bull. She told him that she had an appointment after him and that she had to cut his short. The last time I was there alone I made an appointment and no-one wrote it down so I had to wait 30 minutes for my MPA. Don't try to tell me that its never happened before that a MPA could not give the full time and make someone else wait. I feel so sorry for my friend that his first time was a rip-off.

Just to play devil's advocate here - since when do MPAs stick exactly to a scheduled time. Its a catch-22. If they stick on time, they're a clock watcher and we bash them for that. If we have to wait a bit for our appointment, we bash them for that. If you're running behind, so be it, usually means that the session was enjoyable. However, spacechrysler, don't complain if she is a clock watcher if you are late - that's you're own problem. And I agree - why would you pay for only 15 mins. Either wait for another girl who is available, or leave. Utopia is crap anyway - for your buddy's 1st time - you should have gone down to SRM or Allure.

First of all I waited until my friend showed up and I watched as his MPA talked him into a deluxe session. She did not mention to him at the door that his session would be 15 minutes. She waited until she had him by the balls sort of speak.
I am sure that many of you have had to wait even with appointments, I have many times. It was not anywhere closing time so she could have had the next guy wait. Its only 15 minutes.
I can't blame him for being "taken" cause he just didn't know any better. I just feel so bad for him. I saw him driving south on Trobram probably going to MDS. Anyway flame away, I just think that it was wrong and with the recent bad reviews of this place I sure won't be a client there anymore.

Even though customer is late, service provider has the obligation to let the person know about the situation and let him make a choice to stay or not as we are talking about big money here given the fact that only 15 minutes session can be given.

If I am late for doctor appointment, my doctor would either let me know up front whether he would cancel my appointment or still see me. He would never cut my time in half. And of course, I would apologize for being late as well.

Moreover, if the massage parlour attendants are late for 15 minutes(for a regular 30 minutes session), I would wait for her and would not pay her for half price of the regular session's price since she wasted me 15 minutes waiting. I would just be tolerant of her. So I would expect the same in return. I do think a 15 minutes session was a poor judgment by the MPA. But of course, being late is not the right thing.

They should not ask people to take a 15-minute session and pay for an half hour session. Instead they should have reschedule your appointment. Nevertheless, they are in the service business.

MPA should have told him that he was late and 15 minutes was all he could get.
That should have been done before he paid for 30 min. delux session which as I remember is $120.
$120 for 15 min. at that place is rippoff.
I can't beleive some pople are getting on spacepontiac and blaming him for this crap.

SRM and Allure are much better places for that area.

You made an appointment for a block of time. It's a commitment for both of you. The MPA cannot make alternate arrangements in the event you don't show. It's unfortunate, but you're on the hook for that time. If you're late for (or cancel) a doctor or other professionals, they occasionally charge you a cancellation fee.

Hi spacepontiac,

I agree that your experience was horrible.. but it is unlikely that you will get much sympathy on this board.. especially if your negative posts are regarding well known and publicised MPs.. because we all know that such things do not happen at well publicised MPs.

Having said that, I believe that what that MPA did was utterly reprehensible.. in my experience most MPAs are not known for punctuality...to put it mildly. It is funny though when MPAs whine about the kind of customers they get.. if they treat newbie customers like this.. they are creating their own a**h*le customers of the future... but then again they are more interested in making money fast than worrying about the near future.. maybe they all think that they are gonna leave the profession in 3 months although reality suggests otherwise.

You are comparing MPA and doctors.
To be a doctor you have to spend 10 years in medical school and if somebody shows up late for appointment you bet your ass they have to pay cancellation fee.
Guy was late true, but MPA are always late should we get paid for waiting on them.

And where the @#$ do you get your data that says MPA are always late?? I have rarely if EVER seen an MPA that was late!

An appointment is an appointment!

The heart of the issue is that the customer booked a session for a block of time, but then showed up late.

I used to teach guitar & bass lessons. The lessons were 30 minutes long. If a student showed up 10 minutes late he got a 20 minute lesson, but was still charged for a full lesson.
Funny, the students learned quickly to show-up on time when their Mom or Dad was dishing out the ca$h for the lesson.

Pontiac, just have some professional courtesy & respect next time & call ahead to inform of your being late. If you called to book, then you can call for this too. If they have another appointment back-to-back, they will/should tell you if they cannot do the full session you booked.
The respect & courtesy you give will be received back manyfold, maybe even by the MP & MPA themselves. Pay it forward, dude.

I'm sure that Airboss is rolling his eyes at this thread as started by yet another "whiner" with nothing valuable to add to the forum.

Everyone knows in situations where a patient or whoever is late for an appointment, most of the times I know is the nurse will probably just warns you about next time and never cut your appointment by half because you want to get the treatment that you need. If a person is consistent being late, the worst that could come is appointment re-scheduled but at the expense of the time of the patients. Same time at MP, if a customer is late, an appointment re-schedule should be done instead of giving the customer half the treatment that the customer deserves.

In situations where customers get penalized for being late are only happening when they are aware of the penalties ahead of time. Things don't just happen out of nowhere suddenly. There must be POLICY established by the MP to treat late customers. It is only fair if the policy of half session is stated, then it would be fair and the customer suffers $$$ at his own expense. Advance warnings are the fair things in businesses. If I am a lawyer that I never charge my customers any fees for being late, then suddenly, on a given day, I changed my policy immediately today. Then all my customers would be really pissed off as there are no advance warnings. This is exactly what happen when MPA just come up with their own policies out of nowhere.

Again, having said all these, being late is not the right thing. However, what the MPA did was unfair business practice.

When I got there, I told his MPA that my friend was going to be late. My MPA asked if I wanted to wait for my friend, I agreed.
I figured that we would both be out at the same time.
There was no mention to me or to him that there was someone
next on her schedule upon our arrival. In fact I was so upset that I almost went back in to complain. If I saw his MPA at the desk I would have lost it. I don't know for sure if she had a booking but I have a gut feeling that he was "taken" for being a newbie.
Thanks for any sympathy. Lets learn from this experience and move on.
Once again, nobody can tell me that they have not had to wait for a MPA even when they had an appointment. It's happened to me several times. Keep flaming away. lol
Just be aware of the reputation that this place is getting and be informed consumers.
By the way they have raised their prices to 90NR, 130Deluxe.

The only logical way to settle this is to get all the combatants into a steel cage match. Whomever wins it opinion is right and no arguements. I'll appoint myself as special guest referee and I'll have a steel chair in hand just in case any combants show up late LOL!!
