Stay or go? What should I do?

I work at a good massage clinic but when I look it up on the web, most, if not all of the reviews(which have been made before I got there) are anything but good. So far I have steady work there but it just doesn't feel like "the right place"for me. I have built good rapport with the owner and manager, etc. but there is still a nagging feeling that I could be doing better. There is a place right around the corner from there that offers just about the same deals, etc. as the other, but it seems more aesthetically pleasing and professional. I don't want to have to go from place to place, but it's good to know that there are other options available. I will need to make my own decision about this but I would appreciate it if I could recieve some words of wisdom/advice, etc.

My main concern is that I might be looking for the "grass being greener"on the other side and if I do end up working at the other place, I might not get as much work or my initial job was actually the better place for me.

I would go and get a massage from this "greener grass" and see if it really is what it seems. If you get a chance, ask some of the therapists there how their work load is and what it's like working there. Hopefully this could give you a better idea.

I would consider other things like how long both places have been in business, how many therapists are working and find out what their turnover rate is there compared to where you are now. Definitely get some work done over there, from more than just one of the therapists. Find out what the owners are like. Sometimes a place can seem all hearts and flowers only to find that the owners expectations do not meet what you have in mind - this is just as important as compensation to me.

What other services do they offer there also? Would they ever be interested in expanding their services to offer modalities you are interested in learning (and do they pay for CEs?) What are the room sizes and how much time are you able to take with each client before or after their massage? Would their schedule work for the time slots you have available?
