Hi folks,
There have been threads about what we do to keep in physical shape in order to meet the physical demands of doing bodywork professionally... I'd like some conversation in the same vein around keeping in energetic shape to meet the demands of doing energy work professionally.
Part of this comes from the fact that my lifestyle as a busy urbanite is such a far cry from when I was in school, mostly isolated from non-bodywork pressures on top of a mountain with a fully staffed organic kitchen
Another aspect is that, as much as I enjoy what I do and enjoy having it as part of my identity--part of who I AM rather than just what I DO--there is more to life than trying to be the perfect zen master.
So balance seems key. Have you found your right balance? What does it (or do you think it might) look like?
I know that going to a beer bust more often probably wouldn't hurt me or my work... and that cutting down on restaurant meals probably wouldn't either!
Intention and mindset seems to be so important... if friends "drag" me to the bars when I'm not really into it, I feel like my energetic sensitivity suffers for a day or two. On the other hand, Pride was just last weekend and I had a fabulous three days without much sleep and felt more or less "on" at work Monday evening.
Daily practice seems key too... of course I tend to notice them most when I haven't done them for a while! I've been getting by on the minimum, which for me seems to be energy tuneup in the morning and grounding throughout the day. What do you do? Could you probably use a little more, just right, or would it not hurt you to ease off and get some balance in the other direction?
Thoughts? Ideas? Experiences?
