still problems using site!!! Help!!!!

Dear Moderators.

I'm posting this here as I cannot get into the comments and suggestions site. As you will see, my last post is sitting on that forum, and since then I've hadno progress in sorting out the problems I have with this site.

I can still only access an average of 1 in 5 forums, and even when I do there are so many threads that I cannot open.

I tried all the suggestions that came forward, and now feel a bit left out in the cold. There must be something I can do!!! This siteis a valuable and irreplacable tool for my studies, and I really need to use it over the coming months.

Please give me all the support you can!!!

Are you using an unusual web browser? If so, try firefox. What computer do you have and which operating system?

If you are using Aol you may have problems. Do you have a firewall installed that may be blocking certain pages?

Hi Caveman (love that name!)

Not sure what you mean by browser (I know, bit daft, but I tend to overlook these terms)

My internet provider is indeed AOL, but I cannot change this, as it;s my Dad's PC. Does that mean AOL is also my browser? It looks like it.

What is firefox, and how do I install it??

How can I check the firewall? Will it be on the list of programs?

Please excuse the tekno-ignorance.

Yes your browser is probably the AOL one. People tend to have compatibility problems with AOL. A browser is the program you use to view the internet. Have a look in the folder which contains all the programs and see if internet explorer is there. If so, fire it up and see if you still have the same problems.

If you don't have IE then go to [link=http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/]http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/[/link] and download the firefox browser. Both IE and Firefox are safe to install so don't worry about messing up your Dad's PC.

It was such a simple soultion all along - but one I would never have thought of - isn't it always the way!

Using Internet Explorer has cured the problem. Thank you sooooo much !!!

hi loopy. i had similar problems, except that i wasnt able to register! i then used explorer, with aol running, went to yahoo, opened an account with email (free),then i was able to register, good luck,darryl

I can confirm that there are known problems with trying to use the HP forums with AOL.
Shouldn't be a problem on the other common browsers.
