Strange/Different Marketing

I thought it would be fun to talk about any weird or different (out of the box) ways that we have done or have seen marketing for massage/bodywork. Things that have worked, things that didn't, or just something you might have thought of doing.

Pictures of a person in a hand costume, handing out flyers, and dancing around on the street come to mind. lol!

Not weird but I will certainly do this next year with the next increase in poseforum.xxxe.
Someone I work with at my "day job" said that she recieved a card from her realtor with a note and a sheet of $.02 stamps. We (most everyone I know) was caught offguard with this increase. It seems last time they advertised it more. Anyhow, she talked and talked about it.
How easy and relatively inexpenseive to do.
Several bucks, some notecards and your client list will keep you in their head and I am sure they will tell someone about the MT who sent them stamps........

I don't have the okay to do this yet, but advertising at the hardware store, targeting men for Valentines Day gift certificates is pretty unconventional. I have a basic plan for it, and it doesn't include the flowery look.....going for the very practical guy, in a very practical (and humorous) manner.

But I'm also going to more conventional places, like tanning salons, the bridal boutique, Hallmark store, chiropractor's office, hair salons, etc.

Sounds like a good idea Sharon. Get the men where many men love to be - at the hardware store! Way to think out of the box.

Don't forget you're local Baber Shop too. That's a MAN PLACE! LOL You could even go to a local motor cycle shop/store or a tattoo shop.

We came up with a spa package at work called the Hunter's Special. Very clearly for a man! LOL It's a salt scrub and mud treatment just for the back.

Funny - I got my Success Beyond Work newsletter today and she mentioned trying the hardware store! lol.....great minds think alike, I guess! I'm still waiting for the okay on that. The barber shop is a good idea, too! I wonder how busy they are? I see so many guys in the salon that I kinf of forgot that there ARE barber shops - but I do remember seeing one downtown!

I don't know how "odd" this is but I ended up combining forces with a friend that sells Arbonne. I LOVE the aromatherapy line and she gives me free product to come to her open houses and give mini hand spa treatments. (scrub, lotion, warm towel kind of thing) I can give out business cards, she talks me up, I gush about the product, and I've made several new contacts. I also sell her gift certificates at half price to give out as drawings. It seems to be a good fit. I've done chair massage at large public functions and the demographic is so....broad...that I hardly ever book any appointments from them. Arbonne customers are at least in that kind of mind set. (While I'm chatting, I mention the fact that I'm offering free hand and foot scrub treatments with any massage booking)

And, Masthera, don't feel bad...I have 129 $.37 stamps AND 102 postcard stamps on-hand. I *just* bought stamps a week before I heard they were raising poseforum.xxxe..grrr

Thanks Pete! : I had bought a bunch of stamps right before the holidays and then a few weeks later - I heard.
My local post office ran out of .02 stamps too - guess they didn't prepare too well for this rate increase.
