Strange Experience during Treatment

Hi to all

Really need some input from all you experienced people, with this one. Having completed a reflexology treatment finished off with a bit of Reiki on the feet which is part of my standard treatment, the client came round and said that during the treatment she had seen white light and felt her hands and fingers open - over which she had no control. Also she felt as if she was lying on the diagonal and not straight on the bed.

This lady is an artist by profession and during previous treatments, sees colours and feels tingling and energies through her body. She has been suffering a certain amount of stress due to a few nasties life has thrown at her.

I would also like to explain that during a Reflexology treatment my clients always lie on the couch rather than sit up as I like them to drift off to sleep if they wish as I believe most healing takes place during complete physical and mental relaxation but I always ask them to place their hands by their sides palms up, for as long as it comfortable, at the beginning of the session, I think people receive healing and energies better this way. I almost felt as if this lady could have levitated, and she mentioned the same thing.

Seeing a white light is quite common during a Reiki treatment and people can get all sorts of weird perceptions - sinking throuh the couch, arms floating etc.
Even though you were doing Reflexology to start with, your client would still be drawing Reiki from you, even if you were not giving it
consciously.

I lie clients down as well. I always think they may feel obliged to talk if they are sitting up.

Hi.

When somebody is deeply relaxed they reach the deep dream state (though are still awake). During this time they are able to connect with the oldest part of the brain and it is through this that they 'see' colours, shapes etc.

It is perfectly normal and usual, very relaxing and pleasant.

Lots of people have such experiences during reiki, meditation, deep relaxation, reflexology etc etc. Some people will experience images, pictures etc and it is all part of deep relaxation and connecting with the higher self.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my query, I now have some food for thought.

I think that what troubled me, was that I couldn't give an explanation to the client as to why she felt she was lying on the bed diagonally, and why her hands opened without her doing so consciously.

Well now you can. There is nothing strange or odd about it, nothing to be scared of. She was simply in such a state of deep relaxation at the time that this is how she felt. It may or may not happen again, or different things may happen. I have seen and felt some lovely things when meditating or having healing and also having treatments. Just take them as they come and enjoy them!
