Does anyone do chair massage on the street/in parks/other outdoor venues?I had a really nice chair massage in a public square, in Stockholm, where three therapists had set up to work on tourists and shoppers, and also I had one at an open-air concert.  I am talking at the moment to my local council about getting a street licence to work in my town.Does anyone do outdoor work?  Any info on what's involved with permits, etc (I know it will be different in each country tho)?  Any tips?

I just LOVE working outdoors. I've done several chair events outdoors, and I think this is the most fun. This summer I'm planning on bringing my massage chair out to the beach to get to work out in the sun, and will be sure to add some suntan lotion to my creme to help the beach walkers protect themselves. If I had my choice, I'd like to get a table massage outdoors in a forest or on a beach. To me, a cool breeze is euphoric.

Hey Seforum.xxxg,I could not agree with you more!  Wouldn't it just be awsome to work in the middle of the forest?  Top of a mountain?  On the beach?  Man, that would be the best!I have done a couple of events outdoors.  I haven't needed any kind of permit as of yet.  Guess it depends on the type of function.

The state and local budget people don't know the first thing about having a balanced budget...therefore, everything in the city is by permit only (and talk about tickets!). And a business license, but that you'd get before hanging out your shingle anyway.I too look forward to doing outside work (and for anyone who prefers to use the table, I learned something the other day to help stop the legs of your table from sinking in the ground - cut out a 3x3 square of thick cardboard and put one square under each leg of your table, the displaced weight distribution does the trick).

Thansk for the tip Gaspen! I only wish I had a backyard to set my table up in. I've got a parking lot in front of my apartment though, hehehe.

Late  last summer I did a table massage for one of my clients in his backyard it was a hot day and they didn't have A/C and the house had been closed up all day, it was about 5 pm... plus I have a rule about the spouse being home when I do an outcall massage for a male client.I was actually thinking, "Do I really even Want to do massage anymore? I mean I really felt I was called to do massage... but *shrug* maybe I'm not interested in doing it anymore."Anyway, it was quite nice in his backyard, with a cornfield on one side, the house on the other, and a barn on yet another.... and the only buildings behind them were very far away... There was a light breeze, I'd brought a small CD player which we plugged in outside.Honestly it was one of the BEST massages I've ever done.A few weeks later I did another outdoor table massage for a musician friend of mine in the garden of her in-law's B&B. Our sessions are always great, because she and I have a great synergy,  but this one was even more productive than normal.  We came up with several song ideas/titles for her. LOL I mean the connection with nature in these 2 massages was a HUGE difference for me.Before last summer the only outdoor massages I had done were sports massage while in school. Which is a totally different atmosphere, IMO.So, yeah, a change of venue Can change your outlook. And it's a pretty cool experience for the client as well. LOL Not sure about how one would get permits to do it on public property... but perhaps one could make arrangements with a private property owner located near the particular outdoor area you were interested in trying to do the chair massage? I mean it's not like they're getting undressed or anything for chair massage. "Take a few minutes to unwind and get back to nature with a 15 minute chair massage overlooking _____ park. Feel your stress drift away and be carried away on the light spring breeze..."*sigh* Sounds nice, eh?

Another thing I was thinking of was to do chair massage at garage/home sales. It probably wouldn't bring in a lot of money (since people are there to buy bargains instead of massage), but I would be interesting.
