Hi there, I am a student and as part of my course I have to interview a LMT. I have 10 questions. I am not sure if this is the place to post but here goes..
1. How long have you been a massage therapist?
2. Where did you go to school?What did you like about your school?
3. What type of practice do you have? Part time or full time?
4. What is your speciality? Explain your speciality?
5. How did you choose your speciality?
6. Are you happy that you choose massage therapy as your profession? If not, what makes you stay in the field?
7. Would you do it adain? Why or why not?
8. What valuable information can you pass on to me as a student?
9. What pitfalls should I avoid?
10. What other information can you offer as pertains to massage therapy?

2. New Jersey. It offered a good, solid foundation of anatomy and physiology, as well as had a variety of teaching methods to accommodate students of all different types of learning styles.

5. I read about my specialty in a magazine. I enjoy doing deep tissue work and this is a way to accomplish that without the wear and tear to my body.
6. I am thrilled with Massage Therapy as a career. It is incredibly rewarding
7. I would absolutely do it again! It is far more than I ever dreamed it would be. Helping people on their road to health and partnering with them in that endeavor is an incredible feeling. I am blessed to be able to do this as my job.
8. I would encourage you to be open to exploring your options. Most of us have some sort of idea of how we see our career going once we are out of school, but don't be so focused on it that you don't glance to the side of the road once in a while to see what else is there. I would not be where I am today if I had not considered other possibilities.
9. Pitfalls........I think one of the biggest mistakes I have made and see others making over and over is not viewing yourself as a business person. And also, not setting boundaries and requiring your clients to respect them.
10. Remember, it takes time and planning and even making some mistakes before you find a place where you are comfortable. Don't give up too soon.

Delaware. We all had a lot of fun being the first class.

3. What type of practice do you have? Part time or full time?
Full time for the most part. It is the only job I have but coming from working for someone else and no longer having to work long days it feels part time.

4. What is your speciality? Explain your speciality?
My specialties are deep tissue massage with trigger point and prenatal. I like to customize the session to go along with what the client needs at that time.

5. How did you choose your speciality?
Deep Tissue was our main focus in school. I like helping clients with pain. Prenatal was a specialty that I learned more of after school - I just enjoy it.

6. Are you happy that you choose massage therapy as your profession?
Absolutly!
If not, what makes you stay in the field?

7. Would you do it adain? Why or why not?
Yes. It was one of the best decisions that I have made. I am very happy being a MT.

8. What valuable information can you pass on to me as a student?
Take your time and learn everything you can to the best ability you can. Don't get frustrated if something seems difficult. Once some other things fall into place for you that may follow. There is always something to learn. You can always be better.

9. What pitfalls should I avoid?
Keep yourself in shape. Receive regular treatments for yourself. Don't feel the need to overwork yourself - set and limit and stick to it!

10. What other information can you offer as pertains to massage therapy?
Set a goal and work towards it. If it changes on the way - adapt and move on. Set boundaries and policies from the beginning and have confidence in yourself and abilities!
