subleasing from another therapist

I wanted to get some feedback. I just moved back to an area where I know a lot of people but don't have a clientele yet, since I started my massage practice while living in a different state.

I have been meeting with a PT clinic to discuss possibilities. There is one massage room, the other therapist is an independent contractor working inside the PT clinic.

The therapist is not working full time and I wouldnt be either. I have small kids at home and dont want to work full time. We have discussed sharing the room and each have dedicated days/times to avoid confusion.

I would actually be subleasing the space from her, not the PT clinic. Because of that they don't want to have two separate business names for the two massage therapists.

Meaning I would still be independent but using my name under her company name for continuity.

We are still working out the terms and rent price...but they are willing to start low and re-evaluate in a few months if I'm needed more time in the space. They own the space next door for additional treatment rooms if needed in the future...so if we got to the point we both needed more time in the same space there is room to grow.

Anything else I should be asking about? Its a great progressive business that has grown tremendously in the last couple years.

I wish I could use my business name that I was using in a prior state, but if that's the only issue than I'm ok with it.

Any advice?

also wanted to add...I would just be paying the rent payment. i would do my own scheduling, collect payments with no perceneforum.xxxe going to the clinic or other therapist.

i did not ask specifically. she does her own paperwork, separate from the pt clinic and she told me i would do the same. so i am assuming me but i will make sure.

This space is a brand new PT clinic (established clientele, just a new building), great location.

I would have the space 10-15 hours a week with the ability to use the conference room/open PT space for clinics, events, infant massage instruction, etc. in the evenings/weekends.

I know you said you didn't mind not using your own name. I would only caution you really think on that one. I thought I would be okay with that at a place I first started out at, but quickly found for my personality it didn't work. I was way to attached to wanting to build my own unique identity. I had issues with where the clients records where kept, some phone and scheduling things and other small issues. One larger issue was renting the room out to another person on the days I was not there. To many bodies and personalities in one space for me. Just make sure its all in writing exactly how its going to go. And if possible do a small 3 month trial period before committing to each other for longer.
