suitable chair for indian head massage

hi

just wondering what type of seat other therapists use for indian head massage? most normal chairs have high backs which makes it difficult to get to the scapula properly. i was wondering if a saddle stool would be any good? any suggestions appreciated.

Chairs for IHM are very much a personal choice:

Stools are useful and portable, but have no back support.

Office chairs that are padded, on 4 fixed legs, and with a low back are ideal.

Director canvas chair is an interesting option.

On-site massage chairs are expensive and can rise the client up too high to do a good job on the head, but ideal for neck, shoulder and upper back work. Some clients like these chairs, some think there scarry like sometime out of a torture chamber!

Personally I like a padded stool partly because there is no back to get in the way, and I use other techniques such as Thai & Tuina.

I've used a therapists stool before and like Reiki Pixie said they don't give any support, when I used it I felt that the client didn't relax. Now I use a typist/office chair that my old man dropped the back down on and that is idea because it give's the client some support while also letting me get anywhere that I want to with in reason.

Think I only paid about £10 second hand for the chair, just go and ask in any offices if their'e got an old office chair that you could have or buy from.

I used a canvas director's chair which is the ideal height and all my clients think it's comfortable. If I go to peoples houses, I tend to use one of their chairs though.

I've got a fold-up wooden chair from IKEA which I put cushions for comfort
