Supplier for Cupping equipment

It's time to buy some new cups. I have a set of the glass ones which are nice "decorations" but I just never got as comfortable using them as the plastic ones.

The plastic set I bought last year has started to develop problems. Some of the cups just don't hold their suction anymore so I figure it's time to buy some new ones. The pump works fine so I'm not sure if I can find just the replacement cups or if I need to buy a whole new set.

Does anyone have any favorites as far as brands or suppliers??

I am fascinated with the cupping procedure -- I checked out the website Breathe listed. Do you need to take workshops or can you learn enough by watching the DVDs and purchasing the equipment?

Could you let me know what the MAJOR contraindications for the modality are?

Any input from others also appreciated!

Anita's DVD is actually the one I learned from. I didn't think of ordering from her site because originally you couldn't order directly from her online, only by printing out the order form and mailing it to her via snail-mail. The set I have is the 12-cup set listed on her website. I'm thinking of getting a larger set this time.

One thing that really impressed me about Anita is her accessibility to people who learn from her. I called her phone # once to ask a question, fully expecting to reach someone who worked for her, but actually reached her (one her cell phone no less....she had the office number on "forward") and she was so nice and helpful.

I also work with a therapist who is school now for accupuncture. I'll have to ask her if their store is open to non-students or maybe even have her get the cups for me.

I also learned from her DVDs. They are probably the best instructional videos I've seen on any modality. Major caution is pregnancy and local C/I, (like over superficial veins and "areas of endangerment."

I practiced on anyone who would let me, and added it to sessions for no charge on anyone who was interested, as well as practicing on my own thighs. Everyone loves it so much that I keep the set ready to go for every session and use "spot" cupping often. This has been a tremendous add to my practice, not only for the client (trigger point work is sooooo easy, without ever feeling like the spots got mooshed out,) but also for me. 10 minutes of cupping on the back is worth 30 minutes of deep tissue stripping, IME.

If her DVD is any indication, a workshop would be money well spent.

I chose to do the DVD class since I learn well via that method. Not everyone does though. You can still get CEU's by doing the DVD and have the same certification as if you took the class. It just depends on your learning processes and also things like if a class is offered near you.
