swollen 3rd toe left foot?

Does anyone know the significance of a very swollen and painful 3rd toe on the left foot?

My client had this last night - shes pregnant. I also had this with another client lately, but she was in her 60's and not pregnant. So would like to know if it may be linked to something specific.

Can someone shed any light on this?

My first thought is to ask the lady to discuss it with her midwife and/or gp. You could also have a look at this and see whether it has any significance for either of your clients
