Swollen reflex points?

Hello,

I've come across this twice now and wondered if anyone else has: both my son and a client had quite specific swollen points on their feet corresponding to the areas that were giving them issues.
I've seen marks on people's feet but never swelling. My son's—possibly as he's little anyway—were quite dramatic; it wasn't sore to the touch and had disappeared the next morning (after I worked on it). It makes sense that this would happen but it just surprised me....the longer I practice Reflexology the more it impresses me

Would love to hear from anyone who has seen similar things on people.

Quite often I fill find something on a clients foot that dosent tie up with the case history and when you ask about it they always sy Oh yes I have so and so and forgot to mention it.
I once had a client with a very pronounced lump on the ball of her foot in zone one. I asked if there was anything in that area she hadnt mention - Oh yes I forgot to tell you I have a hernia!

Yes I often come across swollen or sunken points - bladder is the most common one. I always find it fascinating if a point has changed colour, when my stepdad died the chest area on my mums feet was completely black with grief and over time they gradually changed to grey. Another client of mine suffered a trauma to her elbow and the reflex area on her foot was stark white with the shock which again changed back to normal as the injury healed.

Aren't we lucky to do such a fascinating job!

Indeed the feet does at times have interesting reflections on the state of the client's health, but we do need to be careful of big leaps of conclusions based on a vague observations.

For a start there is countless different reflex charts, not just in this country but around the world. So there is no common standard.

Often problems with the foot are "local" due to the effects of wearing shoes. There is no such thing as sensible footware. ALL footware distorts the mechanics of the foot. That's why having the feet worked on is a wonderful thing!

Also there is "cold reading" that many sensitive people do subconsciously.

So taking a consultation, palpation of the feet, cold reading and other factors all need to be considered in client evaluation.

Having said that, by all means carry on your observations, but consider that seeing two similar effects doesn't constitute a finding. May after 100 times ;-)
