T.Dot Red Light District? A pro or con?

There has been talk in the past about Toronto creating
a Red Light District to control the many different adult
services available here in Toronto?

A main "anything goes" location. I think they were speaking around Cherry Beach or the Lakeshore are for this project. Any info on this Subject?

Would a general area for MP, Sp, Strip Joints, S & M shops,
Specific fetish parlors, Superstore porno shops,
Dominatrix services, bi/gay services etc....

Would this be something you guys would visit?

I think Amsterdam, has the right idea with this subject.

Could you forsee any problems with this idea?

Do you think this would be a benefit or a hindrance for
our adult entertainment venue's?

I think the red light districts that still exist in Europe are there now more as tourist attractions than anything else. A general decriminalization is a much better idea IMO. If the intention would be to push the entire sex trade into one small area and not allow it to exist anywhere else, then it would never work.

Here, where we've never had one, no one would want it in their part of the city, and I doubt many of us would want to be forced to go to this one small area downtown in order to 'hobby' or work if you're an SP or MPA. It would be a big step backwards.

There's no need for it, and I think it's just something that gets brought up by the anti-sex trade types who want to scare people into thinking there is no pratical way to liberalize our laws. Let's just get the laws changed to allow the MPs to become legal bordellos, like New Zealand and most of Australia.

I thought we had East Beaver Creek( LOL). I cannot think of any overwhelming reasons in favor of a mall type or red light district.

Seriously though, I totall agree with Haywood that it would be a step backward. It ways it would be an invasion of privacy because if someone sees you anywhere this place various assumptions would be made that could have impact your on relationship and life.

No one who has seen Toronto's Entertainment District would want to see how we'd do an Adult Entertainment District. Legalize, but control how they advertise, and spread 'em around so everyone can have fun.

North Americans are too uptight with sex. Different than the European. There is always a taboo feel even if legalized, for example Arizona. Gov will find some way to tax it. Pro is less LE hassles. My preference is to keep it the way it is. I can visit MP that are close or far away from home depending on my mood or which MPA I want to see.

I wouldn't go...getting caught there would create dire consequences for anyone with a "significant other" living in the gta...better to spread it around...with little "niche" hot spots...

I just wish LE would leave us alone. Other mpa's have
told me of their LE situation's and just the thought of it
while you are working or seeing their cars outside or parked
changes the mood. I'm sure for you guys too.

An mpa friend of mine left work a couple of years ago and
walked to the bus stop as she had no way to get home. No taxi
because the MP was dead and she made no money.

Officers pulled up beside her and asked her where she was
coming from. She told the truth, she didn't know if they saw
here leave the MP. They told her it was dangerous to walk
in the deserted area at that time. She told them her situation
and asked them to give her a ride to the bus stop (5 min. drive).

They laughed and told her that was too bad. She said to
them that they should "Serve and Protect", and they replied
that they "Swerve and Reject". They sped off.
I couldn't believe it, and I know the girl, she is sweet and
polite and only did massage for a couple of weeks at that time.

I know when they check mp's they are just doing their job,
whatever is on the police agenda, but this hobby is so
harmless. So natural. I can't understand the backward
mentality.

There's no way in hell I would go to hobby in a designated area like this! Risk of getting caught by someone you know increases significantly. The whole point of the MP business is that it is very discrete and spread out in many different parts of the city, so it's harder to get caught. I don't want to be forced to go into a area known exclusively for its sexual activities.

Don't feel bad. Same thing happened to female 'civilian' friends on different occasions. One officier offered to call her a cab or keep an eye on her from distance until bus arrives. Another was similiar to the MPA experience, "sorry" and drove off. Cops are cautious who they pickup after one was caught with hooker giving him BJ in the cruiser. As it is your word against theirs. They don't want to risk tarnish their record, even if there are no truth to it.
While others want to be City enforcement, so they can see and may be get favours from girls.

I know few MPAs who do not drive and I always encourage these precious girls to get a licence or carpool, so they will have a safe ride home. I offer my services but since I'm a customer it is usually declined. There are a few creepy taxi-drivers. Had two bad experience with indie cabbie, drop me in the middle of nowhere at early AM. One claimed problem with their meter wanted to charge me inflated fare, while the other decided the destination was too far from where they change shift.
