T-shirts for marketing?

Rose of Sharon brought up a topic on another post (http://www.massageplanet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12443&highlight= ) that I have thought about: T-shirts.

I have though about making T-shirts to give to friends/family in the area. I work in Northampton and am very fortunate to have the web address: massagenorthampton.com. I feel that would be great to have on a t-shirt as I think people would remember it and might be curious enough to go online and check it out.

I am wondering if others have made t-shirts and what your thoughts are about them. I am also curious if you think it would be enough to just have my web address on the t-shirt (front or back) to peak curiosity. OR if the web address should be on one side and catchy phrase on the other?

While I have never handed out t shirts to clients or friends/family, I do wear polo shirts with my name and the name of my practice on them.
I garner a lot of interest from wearing these shirts. After work I will meet my husband at a diner and will have several comments from other patrons.
It is especially good when I am leaving the condo where I see some retirees,, I feel like the pied piper as I am leaving!! LOL
So, I would think that the t shirts would gather even more interest. I just haven't felt comfortable asking clients to wear my business name. (that is just my own mental barrier, not a reflection on whether it is right or wrong) Plus I like having the ability to promote myself from my own wearing of the shirts. If you go ahead with the tshirts you will need to give a report later on how you think it worked!

I've been throwing around the idea of low profile hats with our logo for years now.

I like t-shirts. Never made them for the business, but I think something like Get Massage and the website would be fun.

Brian I think it would be a great idea to do the t-shirts.

When I was in MT school 11 years ago we had polo shirts that just said Massage Therapist on the shoulder... whenever I wore them I always got people asking me where I worked, did I have a business card, etc. So yes, I think wearing them can definitely get you noticed.

And I think the more people wearing t-shirts with your business name on them the better the chances people are going to recognize your business name and decide to check it out!

I can imagine several different versions that would probably draw some traffic towards your website.

I think I like the idea of having a catch phrase on the front and the web address on the back.

Looking at your website I think this one is obvious...

Front: Invest In Your Health!
Back: northhamptonmassage.com

Front: Enjoy Life!
Back: northhamptonmassage.com

Front: Get Back in the Rhythm of Life!
Back: northhamptonmassage.com

I am sure there are hundreds more we could come up with. But I think you can probably come up with something much better that resonates with you.

I do know that I had a client on my table last summer who lives in the same town as Rose of Sharon. I recommended she see someone local and of course gave her Sharon's business info. I was delighted when the client said she had seen Sharon's advertising... on her t-shirts and jackets!

Please let us know if you decide to do it, and update on any experiences you have with it! It sounds like a fun experiment for spring! (Now when t-shirt weather is looking a little closer!)

I have had t-shirts made up for my husband (he plays raquetball every day, lotta people see him!) and son (who likes to hand out my business cards to his teachers lol). I think its a good marketing idea!

In case you don't know this already, Vistaprint gives "free" offers, especially if you've ordered something from them already. They'll bombard you with emails for free and reduced price products. They do T-shirts and Car Magnets! I'm thinking of getting both. I say "free" because you may pay more to upgrade, like having printing on the back of a business card for example, and for shipping - if you don't want to wait 3 to 4 weeks. They still tend to be pretty cheap anyway.

I used http://www.massageplanetepress.com/ for my t-shirts. They came out nice and there's lots of t-shirt options. My shirts have my logo on the front 'pocket' area and then the logo, website, and eforum.xxx line on the back. I use them for work as well, so I wanted to keep the front a little understated.

Just gave out t shirts during the Christmas season with my new logo on the back. In front, I had "got stress?"(white) or "knead therapy? (gray). My clients loved them. Just look at a sporting event that has a t-shirt toss. the fans go nuts.

I bought a t-shirt that says "Got Stress" on the front and on the back "Get a Massage!" No business logo on it but it gets a lot of attention. :
