Tables suitable for shiatsu AND massage

I practice both shiatsu and massage. I currently use a mat for shiatsu and have an Oakworks Nova for massage. I'd really like to get a table that is wide enough for shiatsu but something I can still give a massage on.

Does anyone do both modalities on a table they love? Anyone have feedback on this one?

I have used Custom Craftwork's Athena table for shiatsu and like it. I'm not sure if it would be too wide for massage or not. I'm 5'4."

Just from looking at the picture from the link, I'd hate it! The legs have...well, feet! I'd trip all over them! (But then, I'm the kind of clumsy where I sometimes bump into doorframes...)

Yeah, the feet are a bit weird. I think Oakworks just put up a new photo for that table. A few weeks ago there was a green one with no feet!

I thought the Nova had an option to add shiatsu release cables. I am getting ready to purchase the nova with that option. How do you like the nova table and did you get the release option?

I bought a pisces table so I could do shiatsu and massage. The pisces is made in such a way that you don't have to release cables in order for it to lie flat on the floor. It also the perfect outcall table because the way it is engineered makes it very light.

For me the pisces is almost the perfect table... almost as I really hate the face cradle. But in writing this to you I just checked out their website and would you believe it looks like they changed it!!! Now I am excited as it looks similar to the earthlite face cradle which is really good.

If they fixed this problem for me then I would say that it now is perfect!

Monique, My Nova does have the shiatsu release cables but I don't like to work with the table on the floor because it really isn't wide enough to get onto it with the client.

I do like the Nova a lot, but I would not recommend it if you are planning to travel with it or do a lot of outcalls as it is one of the heavier tables out there. Very well made though.

In my experience, the tables that I have had that have Shiatsu cables have a nut that you unscrew that releases the cables and allows the legs to fold under without closing up the table. Not all of my tables have them. Hope that helps!

Thanks Dawn. That does help. I think my table does have the option, but the hook part to hold the table together digs into the ground. I think that is normal.

Several of the tables from master products (http://www.mhpinternational.com) offer "shiatsu release" legs whereby the support arms detach in the middle and the whole thing collapses flat on the floor. This is even available on their therma-top heated portable tables -- the Ultima model in specific.

We have dozens of their tables and are very happy (the case with the built in skateboard bottom is a godsend when wheeling down long hotel halls)

We get a great price on them too.

I really only have one table right now. I have had it since I graduated. I have been looking for new table and maybe chair online and did find a ultimate business starter package online that gave you a both. So little more research and then time to upgrade!

I can only speak from experience with the "Montana" table in this compies list of products. I have a client who purchased this table for their "home massage" and we haven't had a lick of problems, but I wouldn't want to transport that baby.
It is a fairly good table, however, please note that it is quite heavy compared to some of the other "portable" tables out there.

I do not like the arm rest on this brand as it is attached to the face cradle. The face cradle itself is not very comfortable and is pretty hard.
