taster sessions

i have the opportunity to advertise for free by offering to do short taster sessions of reflexology at my local allotment association fete, but i'm wondering what to charge for say a fifteen minute relaxing foot or hand treatment, and what percentage to offer the association. My hope is that they will enjoy the treatment so much that they will then book a full treatment at a later date with me. (no harm in being optomistic)
anyone have any ideas please.

Well, knowing what the people are like on allotments (I know cos I'm on our allotment association committee) they don't like to fork out much cash. Obviously you're going to need to cover any costs though.

How about £5 for 15 minutes? How much of that you offer the association is up to you but what about 10%? You could also offer some discount vouchers to people who have a taster so that they get a discount on their first full treatment (people always like the sound of a good offer and it's more likely to make them want to give a full treatment a go)

Was the fork pun intentional Giles? A fiver for 15 mins sounds fair to me - this is pretty much what I would charge I think. A prize draw at £1 a go for a reflexology treatment might be a nice extra. Take lots of leaflets and gift vouchers to sell, and you could perhaps do a buy one get one free offer for reflexology treatments. Good idea to put a time limit on this though, and make it so that they pay for the first treatment and get the second one free. People do try it on............

Hi Babs!
Would just warn you to take plenty of wipes too! Those tired feet might not be the cleanest after treading those alotments! Have done things like this myself, though never to an alotment association - what exactly is that? Can I ask where the fete is - I might even come along if it's local.

hi janetheal had already thought of taking plenty of wipes although hopefully people wont be coming straight from working their allotment. i have an allotment and am a member of the association were you rent an area of ground and grow all kinds of wonderful things and hopefully get as much help as you can with all the digging, its back breaking stuff. the fete is in plymouth. have justhad my arm twisted into designing and producing the programme for the forthcoming event.

How about offering a discount to those who actually book an appointment with you while you are there (obviously not to be done on the day, but in the future).

I did hand and foot massages for £5 at a school fete, and it was very successful for me. All the advice above is good, and remember to enjoy yourself!!
