Our cops get no respect.

Toronto Police officers are fuming that the taxman will force them to pay for parking at their stations while other city emergency workers get spots for free. Officers say it’ll cost them each about $4 daily to park and the fee is retroactive for three years, leaving officers and civilian employees facing bills of about $3,600 each.
There are 8,300 cops and civilian workers on the force who stand to be billed for parking spots.Police officers said they work 24 hours and public transit is not always available. Others said they belong to secret or sensitive units that require security precautions to protect their private vehicles.
The high walls around parking lots at police stations were erected several years ago after a rash of complaints about criminals copying the licence plates of police officers’ vehicles and, in a few cases, following them home
