A Hamilton Catholic high school teacher is charged with a classroom sex crime involving a student. Giuseppe Graziano, 51, of Stoney Creek, was charged Tuesday with sexual assault, sexual interference and two counts of invitation to sexual touching.
He is a veteran teacher, having taught 14 years at the school where the alleged offence took place. Police say there may be other victims. Anyone with information is urged to call 905-546-3855.
Police alleged a student under 16 was initially approached at Cathedral Secondary School in January and requested to have sex. Police said a sexual assault occurred inside an empty classroom at the school in February.
A statement — released Tuesday by Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board Chair Patrick Daly — said police and the Catholic Children’s Aid Society were notified when the allegations were brought to light on Feb. 10.
The suspect was sent home and notified in writing he was on home assignment.
“The school and board administration has and will continue to cooperate fully in the investigation and we have encouraged our staff and students to do the same,” Daly stated.
