I'm with you cg on the packaging, I ordered a new video card the other day online and I got the notice that it was available for pickup at the post office (funny, up here? they don't even bother trying to get it to your house, they just stick the delivery notice in your mail box lol).
Anyhow, when I got to the post office they hadn't logged it in yet, the delivery(s) were still piled up on the counter behind the desk. So the girl's looking for it and I (stupid me) say: oh, it can only be about 10" x 8" x about 2" thick. No, WRONG..the freaking box was about 2 feet long, 1 1/2 feet wide and about 6" thick.
As for the hermetically sealed packages lol. I can't tell you how many people say "oh, wait, let me get my custom specially designed one type use special tool for opening that"....I say "I already have one, it's called a utility knife....AND I can use it to trim, wood, leather, lino flooring, gaskets....".....
As for software, that is why I have stopped and will never, buy LG products ever again. I bought an internal DVD Blu Ray HD DVD drive for my computer. I hooked my PC up to my Plasma TV. So I had yet to watch a blu ray on it so I ordered Transformers from Amazon.ca when it first came out. There was a problem with the order so 2 weeks later it was cancelled. I ordered it from another place, 2 weeks later it arrives. I put it in the machine, grab the microwave popcorn, get all settled in to watch finally, NOPE. I need a software update. So right on the opening screen it says LG Cyberlink DVD player....so I click on the update tab, nothing happens. I go to cyberlink.com to their update page? All the links are broken and dead. So I write to LG and their response is: we don't support the software. I wrote back: but your freakin name is on it? Their response? You have to go to the software company's website. I said "their site is full of broken links, so I can't use your pos drive, nor can I use YOUR software". Their response? I can't help you and will no longer respond to your emails. W T F????
Seriously, so their attitude would compare to me selling corvettes, putting my name on the corvette, but if anything goes wrong with it I say "hey sorry, go to GM, I don't support them".......Then you go to GM and they can't help you......
So far, I've talked about 30 people out of buying LG products. I went so far as to be out with a buddy one day and he was looking at Blu Ray players. The LG was 20 bucks cheaper than the pioneer. I said "get the pioneer". He didn't have the 20 bucks so I gave it to him...JUST so he wouldn't buy an LG. I also know 2 couples who were going to buy LG washer and drier combos when they were on sale last boxing day at Future Shop. Leons had Whirlpool ones on for the same price, I talked them into Whirlpool.
So now anytime I talk someone out of LG, I write to them and tell them hehehehe. I know they don't really care, but I do like rubbing it in....so far they've lost about $15,000.00 in sales.....
