I havn't got much to go by but....a thai song that plays down Soi Eric ALOT. Whenever it starts all the thai girls start screaming...it is played alot.

All they did was a quick trick in cubase which allows you to change the pitch of the original sample so its fits within the key of the song you're importing it into - and changed the pace of the sample just slightly by a few BPM's so it has a smoother feel within the tempo of the track. Its not the first time the Thai's (or other SE's, Chinese etc) have blatantly stolen tracks and samples, and sure won't be the last!

Its totally common and accepted that Thai TV (inane soaps etc) use western music and film soundtracks and I would bet london to a brick dont pay royalties..

I remember just after LoTR came out one show was using the shire middle earth music score throughout the series. Another the missus had on, there was this kind of synth chords score, it was just really distracting me, couldnt work out why it was bothering me while I was online, nagging at my mind in the background for days while she was following the show, until I realised it was the 'scarface' score being used.

5555 tell me about it. me and old TG had a massive argument (because she thought i was putting down thai people) i kept commenting at the fact that one of her favorite soaps of the month kept using the Braveheart soundtrack, and bits of mission impossible. i thought it was funny but also that it a cheap thing to do, and tried to educate her on the fact that when somebody creates something, they don't do it out of the goodness of their heart most of the time, its work and people should be paid for it (which is why i'm against downloading of illegal music unless its just to sample an album which you may end up buying or not depending if you like what you hear), but she didn't get it. i know in chinese culture that to copy something (and not pay for it) is a sign of appreciation and admiration (not just the fact it saves them a shit load of money not paying royalties and licenses...), so perhaps its the same in thailand. but i still think its out of order and frankly lazy of the thai's to do this in their media and music

Yeah, that's Poifai (Poy-fi), he is very popular with the Isaan girls. Both a commedian and a singer, reminds me a bit of Jerry Lewis, in some of his songs he even sound like him.

Between rounds I would watch the thai pop music channel with my favourite BG, I liked hearing her sing to some of the tunes and they have started to grow on me.

My favourite Poifai vid is the one where he nearly burns down a Budhist temple, the villagers give him money to get rid of him, he goes to the big smoke and wastes all his money trying to pick up a stunner in the bar, only to return to the village with no money and asking for a handout. Very popular, it's #3 now on the charts now.

My BG thought it was so funny that I liked Poifai, he has heaps of vids on YouTube, I actually went to Phuket town to pick up some of his Karaoke discs, tragic I know.
