Thank you Massage Envy!

I had to pass along this little story. In February I left the chiro I worked for and opened my own practice! I was very scared and hoped that enough of my clients would follow me to keep me afloat until my marketing got traction. I just found out that Massage Envy opened in my town. Olympia is DENSE with massage therapists, city of 100,000 and well over 100 massage therapists. You cannot drive in this city for more than five minutes without seeing at least one massage practice (spa, chiro with massage or massage therapist office).

One of my best clients had not contacted me since I left the office. I was worried that I had lost her to the new massage therapist at the chiro’s office. I am ok with this, but I really enjoyed working with her and was going to miss spending my hour a month with her.

She called yesterday and said she needed an appointment with me. I told her how happy I was that she called and was looking forward to seeing her on my table again. She then “confessed” that she had seen another massage therapist. Not a big deal I thought, as long as she is calling me now!!! She then goes on to tell me that she has a great friend who had been going to Massage Envy and “loved getting massages there.” My client agreed to go with her and see how it was. She then goes on to describe how it was horrible and the massage therapist did not listen and that she was hurting and needed me to help get her back in shape. I almost laughed and said SERVES YOU RIGHT!!! She is scheduled for Monday and I can’t wait to hear even more of the details.

So thank you Massage Envy for giving me one of my favorite clients back!

I think we will be seeing this sort of thing happening more and more. At least I hope so.

My business teacher (also the owner of the school) told us that a Massage Envy rep came in to give their sales pitch and he said that they said all the right things and insisted that they don't overbook their MT's, it's so wonderful to work there, etc. However, not one graduate from the school is or ever has been employed by Massage Envy. Maybe that's saying something.
