I'm a runner and WH fitness commerce editor who doesn't stretch or foam roll as I should (I hope my physical therapist doesn't see this). I know it's important, but I find it boring—I need more excitement in my recovery routine. I don't have the time (or budget) to get weekly massages to caress my tired, achy muscles. So, I found a long-term more, affordable solution to #treatmyself. Meet my little bestie and favorite toy of almost two years, the Theragun Mini, which is currently $50 off for Black Friday 2024.

My post-run pain has dramatically decreased ever since introducing this holy-grail device into my recovery routine. Unlike other massage guns, this gadget is so portable that I can slip it into any bag with zero hassle. It didn't win the best compact massage gun among WH editors for no reason! We tested every best massage gun under the sun, so we know what we're talking about. "I've never used a massage gun as much as the mini, just because I can throw it in my gym or travel bag to use on the go," says WH fitness editor and CPT Talene Appleton. Have I busted this out at the office before? Yes I have, and no one even knew given its motor is as quiet as a mouse. It releases my muscle tension at any time, any place.
Three attachment heads are included to target different areas: Standard ball, dampener, and thumb. The dampener is the smoothest and my personal favorite given it feels the most gentle on tender areas of my body. Full disclosure, I'm the ultimate baby when it comes to massages (masseuses hurt!), and this attachment never causes me pain. The standard ball is firmer, but not uncomfortable as long as the speed setting is set low. The thumb attachment kind of hurts, but if you enjoy getting all the knots out of the nooks and crannies of your muscles you'll love it. For context, it's designed to mimic a literal human thumb and hit your trigger points.
It has three different speed settings that feel powerful. The first speed level is enough for me to reap the benefits—the other two are a bit overwhelming. So, if you have any doubts this isn't a real deal massaging workhorse those thoughts should be out the window. The battery is 120 minutes, but it lasts me about two weeks since I don't do hour-long massage gun sessions.
I have the standard black color, but now it comes in pastel pink, slate blue, and a lovely minty green (for $10 more). What are you waiting for? Black Friday is only a one-day sale extravaganza, so snag my treasured Theragun Mini for $50 off before it's gone for good.
