So yeah, as of today, I've been working at Bliss for a year. It's been a good one!
I have worked in other areas of SW before but this is my first holistic spa experience. From what the other girls have told me, and from what I've gleaned from lurking on these forums, we are an "Alternative" spa in more ways than aesthetics.
First and foremost, it's a great place to work because we are a collegial environment. Our manager, Cintra, fosters a supportive atmosphere. We tend to spend long days together so "mean girl" energy isn't fun to be around and none of us want to be that way. Management prioritizes our well-being, so we're never pressured into seeing a client we don't get along with and we have schedule flexibility for life stuff. I believe that this filters out into a good customer experience - in fact a lot of our regulars comment on the positive vibe here.
Another way that we do things differently, is that we ask for the room fee + tip upfront. We find that it's better communication and less confusing. Also, it eliminates the possibility of a client not paying the appropriate tip! (Would you believe some people try that ...) Having said that, if you want to give the girl an extra tip you are welcome to do so directly.
There is no pressure or expectation on any of us to offer extras ... and no pressure on the clients either (which means that you will get good service either way). We are individually in control of what we want to do.
A lot of us work here long-term and develop friendships outside of work. I'm certainly not planning on moving on anytime soon, so if you want to check out Bliss (and preferably book an appointment with me - lol hint hint!) I'd like to meet you.
Cheers, guys
