LOVES PARK
"I was very surprised to hear that, what was going on just next door to our business. We've been here four and a half years and haven't had any problems-then just like that," said Owner of E-Z Dinners Kathy Jilek.
Just like that-the parlor 'Majestic Therapeutic Massage' next-door to Jilek's business was busted in a prostitution sting in Loves Park on Tuesday. But it wasn't the only one raided. Radiant Spa, also in Loves Park, had just opened this month and was included in the sting by state and Loves Park police.
Three women arrested for either prostitution -- or violating the massage licensing act -- for operating a facility where prostitution was taking place.
Somebody associated with the property had become aware of an online blog discussing activities that were taking place-or allegedly taking place," said Loves Park Police Chief Chuck Lynde.
It was found on a blog similar to Rub Maps, where massage businesses are listed by location, price, and even rating.
"We just don't like seeing stuff like that go on because then that gives us a bad name just because we're in the same area," said Jilek.
Police say the owner of Radiant Spa was even confronted by someone representing the property owner yet they still continued. Police say human trafficking could be a possibility.
"There's lots of ways to control women," said Lynde. "It could be intimidation, it could be threats."
They also believe the three women arrested are connected to a larger operation.
"We're not going to allow storefront prostitution in Loves Park," said Lynde. "It's not acceptable and it won't be tolerated by the city."
