Edmonton Police have closed down three businesses they say were running bawdy houses in Edmonton.

They started investigating a complaint in April. Vegas Spa on 101st Street at 105th Avenue, Kingsway Spa on 118th Avenue at 104th Street, and Escape and Relax Massage on 118th Avenue at 65th Street have now been shut down.

Pierre Lussaint, 54, is charged with three counts of keeping a common bawdy house, and one count of living off the avails of prostitution.

While police were at one location, they found a woman being sexually asaulted. Hermes john Temraz, 43, is charged with sexual assault and being found in a common bawdy house.(bp)

I thought it was only Calgary that did busts like that, but it's a good thing that LE showed up at the one location to stop the sexual assault.

The owner of the studio's must have pissed somebody off really bad....as for the sexual assault charge that is a total load of BS...one can hadly be charged with such an offence if it was consentual...which obviously it was.I would say that the charge was laid not with the idea of a conviction but as a coercive tactic to get the guy to testify against the owner of the studio.

I had gotten the impression that this was an unpaid session forced upon her in exchange for working there, i.e. the owner requiring sessions in exchange for work or more appts, or similar. When you are a paid companion, coercion for a freebie isn't consensual.

Yeah but the owner and the person charged with sexual assault are 2 different people....though the guy charged could have been the manager....I dont know this as I am not all that familiar with the E-town MP scene.

The rumour is that the owner has friends he uses to "break in" the girls. I don't know how true it is, but the guy is not well liked among Edmonton pooners so there may be some truth to it.

Hi I am a little confused on what exactly is a BAWDY House.

In Las Vegas they call them "chicken ranches" or BROTHEL

My understanding is that this is a place where the girls gather and the guy comes in and picks out a girl.

The difference between a Bawdy House and Incall location is that the in a incall location there is only one girl and one guy at a time. The girl only uses the spot as a meeting place for her "date"

Could somebody please clarify this for me as I am confused..

That's why there have been challenges to the Criminal Law on part of sex work rights organizations. Technically, any regular incall location is illegal, even when used by one girl.

This obviously makes no sense, which is why the law seems to be not enforced against individual escorts or prostitutes and only used against massage parlors.

Sounds like a case of "I'm not getting paid? Then this must be rape!!!". Because I am assuming unless something weirdly kinky was going on then it was business as usual at the spa until the cops showed up.

At east one high end studio has a strict no drugs policy. Any girl caught using drugs is fired.

Maybe they aren't totally clean but they are better than the low end studios
