Tiger under construction 2001

It was August 2001 and I made some photo's from the Tiger Disco who was still under consruction. The first Ladybars were open but costumers were hard to see. Two weeks later the attacks on the WTC took place, so there was a slow start. After the closing of The Shark Club (later Starwars) is Tiger together with Banana the main disco in Patong followed with the Crocodille.

Interesting pics.

I was there when it first opened and seemed about a quarter occupied, I did not get enough pictures on that trip and it's a shame because they are always good to look back on

Yes, those were the days when you could sit on top in a comfy outdoor bar under the stars, and be able to talk to the girls without too much noise!
Never liked it after they moved the bars downstairs, too noisy and hectic and unpersonal for me! regards plahgat

Now you say it... Yes they moved the bars downstairs. Did you know they also tryed to move the entire bar venue from Bangla to Rat tu ti road in the late 90's?

Yes, forward_one!
I remember when they had bars in the open restaurants area on rat-u-thit rd opposite what is now the Royal Paradise Complex, back then they had a night market with cheap foodstalls on the other side along the then dusty Rat-u-thit rd, they later moved over and finally took over the bar-area. There were also more bars along central part of beach rd, remember Alice bar, that later moved into Bangla and finally was turned into Scruffy Murphy's. Back then there was also a lot of nightlife in Soi Sunset including Extacy aGoGo. Back then late 80'ies, Soi Bangla was not yet the centre of entertainment as it is today, had some smaller restaurants with cheap Thaifood near where Tiger complex is today. Just sorry I never took pictures in Patong back then, I have lots of pictures from the beach though!:mad2: plahgat

I remember Alice bar. Was one of my first bars I visit in Patong.
