tips for afro hair

Hi there I was wondering if anyone has any tips for oils to use on afro hair other than olive? and any extra techniques for doing it as I've had to omit some moves and do more petrissage usually I find myself having to do afro hair quite a bit, anyone who's perfected the technique for afro hair I would love to hear what they have to say.

Hi, I've done quite a few clients who have afro hair. I find that that by the time I've reached the head area, my hands are oil free and it's easier to work on their heads that way. Also, when I askedmy afro-haired clients if they would like oilon the scalp they have mostly said they would prefer to have oil-free massage. As you say, plenty of petrissage and gripping of the hair is good.

I havefound it difficult to actually get to the scalp with very thick afro hair. I couldn't even manage ruffling with one client or being able to shampoo as well as i would have liked. Tapotement is difficult too as the hair is so thick and my fingers just bounce off the hair.
I've tried to concentrate on the back of the head and using the heel of my hand to massage.
