Are people starting to visit in the day instead of night- being safer?

In TJ there is an on-going war between two drug cartel factions. It's very rare for a bystander to get caught in the cross fire. The violence is not occuring in the tourist areas, especially the Zona.

I just got back last night. I got there around 5 pm and back at the border around midnight and everything looks normal to me. Just stay in the crowded tourist areas (HK to AB) and take the cab back and forth and you should be ok.

I just got back from visiting TJ last Thursday night and had lots of fun. They had a festival/carnival going on Articulo 123( a street considered dangerous according to prostitution sites) But little 4 and 5 year old guys were out having fun, and this was late at night.

Some of the bars were packed, AB, HK, and espeically LC where I found my love for the night Jessica, she looked and acted like a young Renee Zellweger, she had the same mannerism as Zellweger plays in some movies, except this girl was way hotter and younger too at 22. I could fall in love with somebody like her,but sadly she is leaving for the holidays in a few days.

There are still many American sex tourists in these bars, and no one seems worried about cartel violence, or at least you can't see it looking at them?

Sorry, I didn't run into any drug lords, kidnappers, stray bullets, or even corrupt cops this trip, but from reading prostitution sites, I'm really amazed that I actually made it back alive!

But I'll be back to TJ after the holidays, as it's usually a bit slow during the holidays, and many chicas leave to go back home, and usually take weeks to make it back to TJ.

It's all about probability. At any time, there could be a targeted shooting in the Zona. You may get hit and killed by a stray bullet. Your family will have to live with the National shame when the World news reports the Mexican drug war death of an American in an area known for rampant prostitution.

Of course, none of this could happen. It's all about how much risk you are willing to take.

Interesting map. Don't be fooled though. It's highly inaccurate.
Where did you find it ?

If you look here, you can find a number of dead in the Zona Norte
and other areas not listed on the Google map you provided.
This was found at the *I*S*G* website in the Tijuana section - Crime, Safety, and the Police @ post #586.
If they died by violence is another question.

While things are more dangerous than usual, most likely you would be fine. TJ is a big place with better targets than you or I to mess with.

The real stuff about the upsurge in violence isn't be covered properly in the mainstream media.
A myth is being heavily jammed down our consciousness.

I been away from tj for a while and would like to stop by next week but all this talk of violence has me thinking twice...what is everyones thinking on this? is this just fear mongering or is really that bad these days?
