I have a client that keeps coming in complaining with pain on the
outside of her leg which is going up the femur. It is on both legs, but
she doesn't have pain unless she turns over in the bed at night or when
she is walking up stairs. I have tried rubbing starting above patella and
going all the way up to the top of femur. Where the pain is really bad for
her, I am feeling a round knot that feels almost like a bone where there
isn't a bone. One side usually feels like the knot is bigger than the other
and is usually more painful than the other. The knots never stay the
same from visit to visit. It would be great if someone could tell me what
this could possibly be that feels like a huge knot. And, why would it only
hurt going up stairs and turning over in bed at night. She comes at
least once a week to the clinic, but if she misses a week, the pain for
her is always a lot worse. This has really got me at a loss on what this
could be.
