Tourist spots near Petchburi, Bangkok, Thailand?

Its my 1st time going on a trip abroad and my first stop is bangkok... We'll be staying at petchburi so that we'll be near the shopping centers, but I want to do more of sight seeing... Is the chao pharaya river near? How can I go around using their BTS? or MRT? Help! Thanks

Most hotels and all travel agents will have books of day tours that you can take, even ones that get you out of town as well - Kanchanaburi makes a nice trip if you like history. Browse the brochures - and yes, getting to the Chao Phaya will be an inexpensive taxi ride - taxis in bkk are cheap. have fun.

Petchburi is south of Bangkok about two hours drive so is nowhere near the Chao Phraya river. Nearby tourist spots include Cha-am beach.

I guess you mean petchburi road because Petchaburi is a province about 1 hour away from Bangkok. If you are in Bangkok the skytrain and underground train will take you many places easily. There are tons of buses and taxis. It's very very easy to get around. The only hassle you might have is traffic. You can buy good maps at any bookstore. There are plenty of places to see and places to shop in the Bangkok area. I'd gues your hotel if its on petchburi road is about 20 minutes with traffci from the river. You can easy change hotels as it is the low season. You shouldn't book everything in advance as you might like to move plus hotels are cheaper if you just walk in. There are tons of hotels and guest houses all over Thailand.
