Trading massage for babysitting

A potential sitter wants to trade for massage. She hasnt sat for me yet, but she's a college student and friend of mine. I usually pay $8/hr for sitting my one 7yo child. Does 7hrs for one full hour of massage sound fair? I usually charge $55 for massage

or should I just ask HER what she thinks is fair.......?

I think you could go an hour of your time for an hour of her time or cost for cost. It depends on what you are most comfortable with.

I would go with cost for cost--I can't imagine going out for dinner and a movie and end up owing 4 to 5 hours of massage.

I asked a babysitter

My daughter babysits, and she said she would not babysit for 7 hours for one massage.

(then again, my daughter doesn't pay for massage!)

I think service for service: one evening of babysitting for one massage. Yes, a massage only lasts for an hour, but the effects last much longer, and "erase" hours of work

If you're open to trading I'd ask her what she felt was fair. Around my area the babysitters say what they charge for their service, or come to an agreed upon price with the parents.

If you haven't even discussed wages, I wouldn't assume that she'd be thinking $8/hour....she may be thinking something less or more, or she may be put off that you'd be telling her how much she'll get paid for her services.
