Training and pregnancy

I am all signed up to start the ITEC reflexology course in September (will take 9 months) and really looking forward to adding it to my existing portfolio of therapies.

However, I also want to start trying for a baby later this year. I'm assuming it may take me some time to get pregnant (I'm in my 30's and don't want to leave it much longer).. but if I did whilst still studying would I still be able to give and recieve treatments as normal in class? I know there are contraindications with pregnancy - I'm just not sure how restricted I would be?

In the class the year before me one of the students was pregnant, in fact she had to defer her exam as she went into labour that week! So guess it is possible! Contra-indications for pregnancy mean you wouldn't be able to recieve any treatments in your first 3 months (plus is possibility that you will be pregant and not know it stright away so might want to miss out on having treatments once you start trying in case you become pregant sooner than you think, wouldn't want to have a treatment and lose the pregancy which is the risk) but giving treatments would be no problem (long as your bump is small enough to comfortable reach over the feet! ;0)!! lol) plus if you do the course now then not only will you be able to treat your baby which would be a lovely bonding idea, but you'l have thetime to do it which once the baby arrives is more unlikely!! Its pretty time intensive Im finding, I dont work yet Im struggling to fit all the hours of home study and practise treatments in, so if you had a new baby, that would be even harder! Go for it! :0)

You never know - but the treatments you receive whilst learning may help you to conceive quicker!!!

I have done the ITEC course, there is alot of work involved, especially the case studies, so I think the sooner you start the better because as natadams said, when you have a baby you may not get quite as much time as you think!!!

I have 3 children (the youngest is 4) and it is hard fitting it all in now, can't imagine doing it with a newborn too! Go for it now while you can and enjoy it!! Shouldn't be a problem. I have had several students needing gradually larger uniforms. Missing one or two sessions and returning slimmer!
The main problem is that when you are pregnant, your concentration goes....which can make it hard to study.
Let nature decide. Get started on the course and accept what life brings to you.
I always say to my students that doing these longer courses is like having a baby:
You don't know what's going on at the start.
Over the ensuing months, it becomes and uphill struggle.
Near the end, one big push and you get your certificate!

Thank you guys.. your responses have reassured me and I hadn't even really thought of the possible benefits in terms of my fertility! Hurrah..

Really looking forward to the course.. its seems ages away and I just want to get started.Mind you, I feel just the same about trying for a baby!
