First let me say, I hope you will all add your experiences here too!

I may have started a thread like this in the past, and if so, I apologize. But, I had such a wonderful happy moment today, that I just needed to share!

I absolutely love it when we get new people from other places. Other cities, other states, other countries. We have a number of clients who's numbers are not from our area code.

Here's my most recent story:

I was blessed to have a lady call and leave a message yesterday on my answering machine. She was calling from England, to purchase a gift certificate for her son's birthday. He's here in my city and planning to run the Marathon we will have in a few months. Since I have work on marathoner's, I guess that is basically how she googled and found me. NEAT!

She left her number, and I called her back yesterday, making arrangements for me to call her back again today in order to complete the credit card charge. We had such a lovely conversation and it all went without a hitch. I am sending her the receipt and her son the gift certificate today.

I love it, I love it, I love it.

I just want to encourage everyone to be open to people who call with out of town numbers (I don't have caller ID, but I have heard people say they don't accept or even call back long distance numbers). Many times it can be a blessing.

We have a ton of guys that are stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq (albeit they are American) to buy gcs for sweethearts and wives. And we have had people calling from all over the US to buy gcs for family members that live in this area. Nothing out of country yet though.

I had a particularly lengthy call with a man living in Norway, and some shorter ones with folks in Japan, Canada, etc. It's wonderful to connect with people so far away and help make their loved ones happy!

I have a few clients who come from overseas, and they were referred by their friends (except one, who just happened to be walking past my business while she was in town). I've also had some previous clients from my practice in AL refer me folks they know who live out here in San Diego. But, the happiest referral from out of town was from a massage therapist (whom I didn't know) from Ohio who found me online and purchased a high dollar amount gc for her cousin who lives here.

Most of my "out-of-town" clients were regulars while living in Prague who have since relocated. Many of them still own property and have business interests here and always reschedule when in town. These include individuals who now live in and visit from the US, Brazil, and Australia in addition to a number of EU countries, the Nordics and the UK.

Additionally I also am fortunate to have dedicated clients in locations I visit regularly such as Florida, London, Brighton, Berlin, Oslo, and Malta so that I am able to sometimes do bodywork professionally when I travel.

Always nice to be able to make a bit of extra money while travelling!

About 6 months ago, I got a call at the MT school where I work from a guy in Australia looking to buy a GC for a friend of his who lives in my area. When she got them in the mail and called us, she sounded so thrilled and always left happy when she came in to redeem them. The coolest part about this was that she eventually signed up to be a student and is doing wonderfully!
