hi all!
i'm in my last semester at the swedish institute and for my clinic, i have to work on 2 clients with conditions. Client 1 was diagnosed with a compressed disc at L4-L5. he seems to be able to deal with his pain, only rating it a 2-3 on a scale of 1-10. the point of these clinics is to treat the client's area of chief complaint with medical/deep tissue massage for 30 minutes, and the remaining 30 minutes on another area (perhaps other areas that may be affected or are causing the chief complaint). based on reading the replies to another thread in this forum, i guess i shouldnt really be doing much myofascial or friction on this area (i was thinking of doing myofascial to ql, as one side is shorter, and some cross fiber friction on the area. i didnt have time to do any palpation during our first session, but i was going to treat any other areas, such as his upper back, hammies and maybe gastrocs with myofascial release and other deep tissue stuff, assuming some of these areas may also be short or restricted.
any thoughts or comments will be greatly appreciated!
