Treatment room size...

I am just curious, what is the size of your treatment room?  I am looking for office space and have been very disappointed in the size of the rooms that I have seen and really don't have the $$$ to renovate existing space.  I was out looking today, and I went to a location that had previously been used by a surgeon, so I thought that it would be a perfect size, and would be able to move right in... I was very wrong unfortunately, the rooms were just 8ft by 9ft, and would have to rip out cabinets to even get that amount...  So, I measured my treatment room at the gym, I have my table on a diagonal and it is 8ft by 10ft, which can get cramped at times.  I don't know if I should try getting an 8x12 or some other dimention.  If I can get somewhere that I don't have to also use my room as storage, I could live with the 8x10.  But I am curious as to what the dimentions of your rooms are for those that do have a comfortable amount of space to work with.

My room at home is 8x10 and it has bookshelves on one wall.  My table is diagonal and I have a chair for me, a chair for the client to sit to put on shoes, and a small file cabinet that is where I put my stuff, my lamp etc.  The size is ok, but sometimes, I do have a foot bump up against the wall and then I am surpised.Previously, I had my table in a room downstairs that was 12x20.  Now that was LUXURIOUS!The room I am renting is 10x12 and adequate.  I am paying 300 $/mo.LaLoba

My room is 9x16.  I have enough room so that I have a curtain hanging to separate the area.   I have my desk, etc. in that area.  That way I don't have to leave the room as they are getting undressed and also the "office" space isn't invading the massage area.  I have enough room in the massage area for 2 storage cabinets, one tall one that has linens on one side and then a place for the client to put their clothes on the other.  The other one is a counter-height cabinet that I store my lotions, candles, music, etc. in.

Treatment room size...

Mine is 11x14. My previous room was 10x13. Both were ample room to work & "set up house"... ha. Before that, I worked in a 10x10 room & that was okay; doable. My very first massage job was in a 9x12 room, also just fine. In my opinion, 10x12 or larger is ideal.Jill/Sagetherapist

My current space is 10 x 10.  I find it on the small side and would prefer it to be at least 11 x 11.I also put my table diagonally in the room which allows the corners of the room to hold the linen storage unit and stereo, chairs and lamps.One thing I have found very helpful is a unit that offers floor to ceiling open shelves.  The shelves are about 3' long by 10" deep.  The shelves are fully adjustable so I can change the height of each shelf to suite my individual needs.  It offers a great place for books, brochures, biz cards, displays and other "whatnots" without taking up a lot of floor space.  The other nice thing about this is you can use pressure rods and curtains to block off portions of the shelving unit if you are in need of hidden storage.I know when I was looking for space a few years ago I found it incredibly difficult to find an affordable suite around 600 square feet.  Or places that offered treatment rooms the size of walk-in closets.

Treatment room size...

My treatment room is about 8x9, it is tiny but it works. My table is diagnal, I have a stool to work from, but I can only roll it around 1 side of the table with it and I can't use it at the foot of the table. I have a chair for the client, a floor lamp, a heater, and two shelves up high- 1 holds my stereo, the other tissues and knick-knacks, and a tiny corner shelf for a candle. However, outside the treatment room- I have a waiting/office area w/ a linen cabinet, a closet for cleaning supplies, a microwave, and other stuff, and a bathroom, the space is all mine and I pay $240 rent- that's why I took the space even though the treatment room is small. I had to paint and clean the carpets, and buy area rugs as the carpet isn't too attractive and totally furnish the space- but it turned out great and it reflects me. While I'd love a bigger treatment room, it really hasn't been a problem for me to work in, and it's attractive. Eventually when I have established a decent sized clientel and have some money saved I would like to find something bigger though, but for now I'm really happy with what I have.

my treatment room is 13 by 13.  It's a nice size.  I have a desk in one corner, a bookcase on one wall......near the desk, a lamp in the other corner, a table on the other wall with my rice cooker and roaster on, armoire diagnol in the other corner, table in the center and room divider in front of the door.  I pay $229 per month and love the location, size, price.  It's close to a kitchen so I can get water.  The only thing I don't like about it is there is no window.  But don't worry about it any more.  It's like a cave, nice and cozy.

My personal treatment room is 8 x 16, however my other 3 treatment rooms are 10 x 10.  They are not as roomy as I would like (except mine!  ;D ) but by having the table on a diagonal, and by optimizing the space with storage, they are comfortable and workable without being stuffy.Great thread idea!

My room is 11x11 and I wish it was a bit larger only so that I could have more room to move around the table. I have a utility cart in one corner that has my hot stone equipment and hot towel cabi. I also have a matching low cabinet for linens and small secretary's desk for my credit card processing materials, cream, CDs etc.
