So my friend got a two month old male kitten and he can't have it in his house for a few months so I'm watching it for him. I have four cats of my own who are accepting of new cats except for my five month old girl whose a bit tentative. Anyways, I told my friend I'd watch his kitten because he told me he was sweet and affectionate. He neglected to mention he is a very scared cat whose been kept mostly in a cage so his socialization skills are low. He's also not my idea of affectionate. He'll let you hold him if you make him and pure when you pet him but he's definitely not the always in your face, cuddly affectionate that my cats are. I've been keeping him in my room with me for a few days and the cats in the rest of the house to try and see if he can warm up to me at least. It's not working too well and I've never had a cat this scared. He's only just getting used to sleeping at the foot of my bed but he still runs when I walk in the room. Plus it's taking a toll on my little girl who's used to sleeping and spending a lot of time with me. I've still been devoting time with her but I'm afraid it's just going to make her dislike the boy more. What should I do? Should I just open my door and let them all work it out and hope he'll become more comfortable here? Or should I keep him in here and hope my girl will except both of us when it's done? I've never been in a situation like this and I really want it to work out. Does anyone have any advice that could help me and my kittens?
