Heya. You would typically meet your therapist, then go through a short consultation session to identify any medical problems which may affectyour treatment, this is so that the therapist can determine that the treatment is safe and right for you, if you should consult your doctor and also to enable them to set objectives for the treatment, and work out any treatment plan necessary.
Then you would be shown to the treatment area and settled into the chair or couch. Your therapist may dim the lights or put candles on to make the room more relaxing. She or he would then commence by cleaning your feet and then proceed to massaging them.. if your feet are tense, they would normally incorporate some relaxation techniques to loosen up the muscles and you in general..
Most reflexologists work to a routine, some work towards the heart, some work from the toes to the akles, it all depends. The therapist would use a gentle and firm pressure on your feet covering all major reflex points of the foot. Once they have gone through that routine, they may work over problem areas again and give them a boost to balance things out. Once this is complete, they would normally drain down your feet and then finish off with a relaxing massage..
Once the treatment is over, your therapist should give you some time to relax and come to, then go over the areas which they have found to be out of kilter and give you some aftercare advice, based upon what they are qualified to advise on and to let you know how they would proceed in terms of ongoing treatment, should this be deemed necessary.
Hope this helps.. are you looking to try reflex?
