On another thread here it was stated that MTs should *always* use universal precautions. Those are nonporous gloves, face shield and goggles (as well as boxes for needles and sharps but we're not using them so...) when there is a chance of coming in contact with bodily fluids.
I've never known anyone to use these things but does anyone? Does anyone use gloves? I've never even thought about it. We had to do umpteen Infectious Disease Control seminars all the years I worked at a hospital (and there was always one poor Environmental Services guy or gal who would get a stick because somehow one would end up in dirty linens from time to time) but does anyone even have the goggles or mask? I do have gloves on hand, just in case but have never used them.
