University offer !!!

Hi all
As most of you know me on this reflexology forum now I thought I would post my news here.

I applied to be a midwife in September and had offers of 4 interviews - Liverpool John Moores, Salford, Edge Hill and Manchester.

I went to do the Liverpool essay on Teenage Pregnancy - no notes allowed, just from memory and got an A (27 out of 30), so got called for interview. They offered me a place on their BA degree course for Sept!!!

I then went to the Salford interview and had to do an english test on Alcohol and a maths test and passed those and got offered a place at Salford Uni too!!
2 offers on the same day!
Fanbloodytastic!!!

I have had an interview date for Manchester but turned them down and thought it was my last choice anyway - giving someone else a chance, and I am just waiting on an interview date as apparently I have been successful for Edge Hill interview too!!
Hopefully I can continue with the baby massage that I passed recently too along with the reflexology and combine it all with midwifery!
How fab!

So I am rather excited.
I will stop waffling now!!

TJG, that is fantastic news! I studied midwifery at UCE in Birmingham, and it was a really amazing course. You will love it!

I was looking at a website the other day about midwives combining complementary therapies with their midwifery, it seems to be more and more the norm. So Im sure you will be able to easily combine the two!

I wish you lots of luck with your course. You will never ever forget the first time you help a woman deliver her baby, it is the most magical and amazing moment in the world. This little life emerging into your hands. There are no words to describe it really.

Thanks for all your lovely comments - my aim is to eventually work in Australia.......but not sure how to go about researching it - think I will do some 'googling'!

TJ, you may be able to go to Australia as part of your course, as long as you have got all the deliveries, anenatals and postnatals you need to complete the course before you go. I know it was an option when I was studying, and it wasnt just for UCE, it was all unis.

I have heard that you can in your 3rd year go to other places, Devon, London, Manchester, Australia - I know which one I would choose. They can give you apparently a few weeks to travel but of course they do not pay for you and your family to go - but it is good to have the option to have some 'time out'.
