A former Windsor massage therapist will spend nine months behind bars.

Shawn Boycott was sentenced on Monday to nine months in jail followed by 18-months probation, for sex-related offences he pleaded guilty to in back October 2018.

The 49-year-old was charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of committing an indecent act against five women, all his previous clients.

Assistant Crown Attorney Jennifer Holmes says Justice Kirk Munroe gave a very thoughtful decision.

"I thought it was particularly heartfelt, the way he thanked the complainants for coming forward and wished them the best, as well as wishing Mr. Boycott the best in his rehabilitation because that is extremely important as well."

As part of the sentence, Boycott will also have to follow some rules once he's released.

"Mr. Boycott was ordered to submit his DNA so it will remain on the DNA Database and also he has to report to the sexual offender registry program for the rest of his life," says Holmes.

She says because Boycott pleaded guilty, the five victims are pleased they didn't have to go through a trial.

"As we all know, complainants often wish is was more but they understand the law and it's been explained to them an they're content with what happened."

During proceedings, court heard Boycott touched the women he was massaging in an inappropriate way and for a sexual purpose.

The nine months in jail and 18-months probation was a joint submission between the defence and Crown that Justice Kirk Munroe called "adequate" and agreed to.
