Using Moxa during Reflex Treatment

Has anyone attempted to use Moxibustion, before/after Reflex Treatment?

No.....but then the only person that used this on me was my five element acupuncturist. Not sure that reflexologists are supposed to use it?

I agree with Candie on this.

Only a trained Acupuncturist should use Moxa.

Moxa is a rolled cigar shaped herbal stick used in Chinese Treatments. The moxa stick is lit. This stick is used on meridien points if the points are depleted, ie. if someone feels cold in certain meridien points, then moxa heats these points up, or if someone is a particularly'cold' person, then acupuncturists use moxa to warm these meridien points up The only reason I asked, is I came across a Chinese Treatment book, whereby no acupuncture needles were used, instead a lit moxa stick was used on its own, on areas that were painful. Also I read somewhere, that Reflexologists following Chinese Meridien points on the foot, use Moxa after treatment.

I get little moxa pyramids placed directly on my skin on the acupuncture points and lit. They are removed by my Acupuncturist when they have burnt down and I say they are getting hot. Sometimes they burn and I go home with the mark upon me.[:'(]

I must need my head seeing to - 'cos I still go back for more.[:-]

Me too. It's a lovely kinda 'ouch'! sensation isn't it!

Panicky, my acupuncturist trained for 3 or 4 years and I would only trust somebody like that to know where to apply the moxa. I wouldn't be happy to have a reflexologist do it and I doubt that your insurance would cover you and it can really burn.

Sandra Day school of therapies does a one day course in moxibustion which is covered by the FHT.
