SOUTH SALT LAKE — The owner of two massage parlors is facing additional charges accusing her of engaging in prostitution.
Baomei Sun, 49, of Murray, was charged in June in 3rd District Court with engaging in a pattern of unlawful activity, money laundering, and two counts of exploiting prostitution. A preliminary hearing was scheduled to begin last week.
On Tuesday, two additional counts of exploitation of prostitution, a second-degree felony, were filed in 3rd District Court.
Sun is the registered agent at Asian Massage, 58 W. 2700 South in South Salt Lake, and Asian Center Massage in Taylorsville, according to charging documents.
"Agents conducted surveillance on the businesses owned by Baomei Sun and her residence in Murray. Baomei Sun was seen driving multiple Asian females from her residence and dropping them off at the two massage parlor locations. Baomei Sun was also seen picking up the Asian females from the two parlor locations and returning them to her residence," the charges state.
Undercover agents went to the massage parlors in January, April and May, which resulted in criminal charges being filed in June.
But agents also conducted more undercover operations in June and August at the South Salt Lake parlor "to determine if illegal conduct was still occurring." Both times, the person giving the massage offered sexual acts in exchange for money, according to the charges.
Prosecutors have requested a no-bail warrant be issued for Sun's arrest, alleging that the incident in August occurred while Sun was on pre-trial release from her original charges.
