Very red, itchy skin

I just did a massage tonight on a beautician and I hadn't been
doing the massage long and her skin looked really red, and she
said it was itching her very badly. I didn't have my massage
lotion with me at the time so, we were using cocoa butter. I
know that couldn't have irritated her and she said that wasn't
the first time it had happened. Anytime she gets a massage, this
happens. I asked her if it burned, and she said not at all. The
redness looked like someone that was having an allergic
reaction. But, if she does that everytime, it couldn't be that. Her
husband says when he rubs her , she does it, even with no lotion.
She thought maybe it was circulation problems. I have never
seen this before. Does anyone know what this could be and
is it okay to continue with the massages on her?

I would suggest she see a doctor. It may be that she is allergic to the chemicals that SHE works with every day, and increasing her circulation just circulates the histamine in her system, but I'd really recommend she see a doctor and find out. It sounds like it could be something serious that needs treatment sooner rather than later.

I am amazed that she ever gets massage, since she knows this always happens. I HATE to itch!!!!!!

Not all individuals can tolerate coconut butter. I have some in my practice who react badly to Biotone, others who react to some of the ingredients in Soothing Touch oils. It depends on the person...........

Sounds like she is having a histaminic reaction to the massage with the itching stuff ---- that or something psychosomatic in nature.

My neice does this as well. Just the touch, even without any kind of lotion and her skin gets irritated. I don't remember what term the doctor used for it, but it is very rare. It doesn't hurt her at all, but looks painful.
