Visiting Soon: Book now? What does that even mean?

Been lurking on EC lately and seeing all the visiting ladies who promise to be visiting Regina soon. Some add, "book now". How are we supposed to book when we don't know when they will be visiting...other than "soon"? There are a couple ladies that I've contacted to try and book "soon", but their response was that they weren't sure when or even "if" they'd be coming. Just asking...

Pretty sure these ladies are trying to get a feel for how much interest there is. If they get enough inquiries, they will likely book a trip.

It is purely my personal experience, but in every case and every city where I have booked in "advance", say two weeks or more, the appointment hasn't worked out whether it's me or them having to cancel.
Booking a week or less in advance always seems to work out fine. So if there aren't availability dates available on a posting or calender somewhere I won't even look twice. If I'm hopeful someone will come here then I'll send them a message directly and ask, and they usually let me know when.

agree with allcurious28, trying to see how much interest there is. but I don't think they get an accurate picture this way - I know I don't bother contacting someone until they post actual dates.
