"Walking Street" Patong

One night I did a walk around Patong checking out the different nightlife areas besides Bangla rd. and when I turned down Prachanukhro rd (South end of Patong) I noticed a new development with a huge sign proclaiming "Walking Street", it looked pretty deserted (nothing like "Walking Street" in Pattaya) but a number of bars were being built there and many others were empty. Anyone know what is happening here, plans etc. Is this where they are gonna move some of the Bangla bars in the future?

It has been rumoured that it will be the new O-Top.
Luv You Long Time had the Indian bar there, but no longer involved.
The corner bars (Beach and Dolphin bars etc) do OK from the Absolute crowd (opposite) but the new part is desolate.

"Walking Street" Patong

I went there once around June/July, went at 6pm, left around 9pm. I was the only customer in all the near by bars till 8pm. Bars out front (technically not part of the walking street but connected to it, right next door) on Beach Road had good crowd, I thought mostly coming from south end hotels and grabbing a beer in first bars on the main beach road.

Interestingly I saw an Iranian restaurant in the Walking street, have seen few Arabic or mixed Arabic/Indian but Iranian-specifically was interesting but the the usual Arabic kinda food. Many shops in the walking street were still un-rented.

its all part of a bigger plan for the area...even heard they want to shift bangla road ? now that would be a distaster
