ASHEVILLE - A sex offender, who authorities say failed to report his address, was charged with practicing massage therapy without a license, according to arrest warrants.
Michael Stanley Cole, 50, who has his address listed as a residence on Piney Hill Road, never resided at this address, warrants state. He also never gave the Buncombe County Sex Offender Registry the correct address where he did reside.
Authorities charged him with one felony count of failing to report a new address as a sex offender, according to police records.
State records show that Cole was convicted as a sex offender in 2005 for an offense that took place in the state of New York in 2004. At the time of the offense, Cole was 38 years old and his victim was 16 years old, according to the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry.
In October, authorities say Cole advertised himself as a massage therapist and did not have license to do so. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of practicing massage without a license, according to warrants.
He was arrested Thursday by the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office. Bond was set at $10,000 secured.
He was scheduled to appear in Buncombe County District Court on Friday.
