Waxes for IHM. Any recommendations?

Hi peeps

My tutor used a gorgeous coconut wax which turns to oil in class the other night. She bought it at a trade fair and isn't sure of the name of the company (think the label has rubbed off). Does anyone know of any nice waxes that turn to oil that can be used in IHM?

Hi Sarah,

Superdrug does a solid cocconut oil that turns into oil on contact with your hands. I have never used it in IHM but its great for general use on the skin.

Would be interesting to see how it would work for IHM!

I also use solid coconut 'oil', (bog basic from Boots) but can't imagine how to incorporate it into IHM without alot of hairwashing beinginvolved!

I have used it for IHM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lovely smell, very soon liquifies, so much so that I have a lovely stain on the mat in my treatment room!!!!

Yes it does work well, lots of washing afterwards.

Be careful - it really does liquify quick (must be my work of the week), will look up the make I use and get back to you.

I wanted some coconut oil for my daughter's scalp (the doctor recommended it - odd cos I used to use it for cradle cap when she was much younger) and the local Boots said that they don't stock it anymore!

If you want to try coconut oil at minimal cost, the health food shops sells culinary coconut oil very cheaply.

Its not the best for massage - you are better with an organic oil, but where I live there is limited choice so I did have one massage client bring their own culinary coconut oil for me to use as they used it on their skin for psoriasis and it helped them a lot. I did order organic coconut oil but it was significantly more expensive, and my client continues to use culinary oil on their skin for her own use.

I do IHM Coconut oil is naturaly solid it melts when you put it in your hands. 100% pure coconut has no smell but is very beneficialfordry skin.
Regarding geting it into clients hair you should ask yor client if is it OK to use oil and if yes which parts of the body? Back, Hair, Face? (put it on your health questonaire)
If client is coming for IHM their are expecting to get greasy and messy hair.
They should leave the oil in the hair as long as possible, very benificial.
