Webcam question for newbie?

Hi, here's an odd question - I want to set up a webcam and I have no idea how to do it, but what I want to do is put it in my living room to watch from my laptop at work to see what my dogs are doing in the day while I'm gone. Exactly what would be the process for this - what do I need for my laptop to log in and see the video from my home and what do I need to set up at home besides the actual camera. Thanks for any info.

... that's gonna be one long cord to the web cam. You can get a wireless web cam from multiple places so I would get one of them. Make sure to read the lower rated reviews... and it should come with all the drivers and software you need just install the software that comes with it and plug the receiver into the laptop. You should be able to view it as long as you are in range of the wireless signal.
