You could consider finding someone to barter with. Massage for website building/changing and etc. I am big into bartering.
The best bet would be to find a list of all website maintenance people in your area and send out a letter.
Citysearch may do the trick. If not, you could try the
online yellowpages (I linked to it for you - all over the US, but you can refine it to your region easily)
for "website maintenance".
This is just a very rough idea of a letter, but it may give you something to build on.
Dear
Godaddy hosts. I've never had any problems with them and their price is good. Excellent customer service.
I have a free invisible counter with StatCounter. It only tracks the last 100 hits, you have to pay if you want more. Since I check it daily, it's no problem. It's been very useful to know where my hits are coming from.
Hope that helps!

I created my own with Dreamweaver, but I've always picked up computer stuff easily enough. I can see where it might be overwhelming to others with less experience.

I created my own with iWeb through .Mac, and bought my domain through godaddy. It was very easy to set up, and cost me under $200. I just have to continue paying the hosting fees...
I am very happy that I can add anything I want, change it around whenever I want... and haven't had any problems.

We built our own--from scratch
It has gone through several incarnations! It's a process, a journey, a trial-and-error. We're always changing, updating, proofreading, etc.
We bought a webpage-building program a few years ago and used that. It's quirky but relatively user-friendly. You don't need to know HTML code, a lot of it is drag-and-drop or inserting pictures/formatting text, that sort of thing. My husband fumbled around with it for a little while but then got the hang of it. According to one of my clients who builds websites for a living, my site would probably have easily cost us several thousand dollars to have built for us! When we were starting out we had all the time in the world and not much of a budget, so this solution worked perfectly for us
Hugs,

Hi Rebecca,
I do it myself with the help of websitetonight at godaddy. They give you templates to choose from and I plug in the rest. It is easy and just about fool proof. It is nothing fancy, no flash or anything like that. Just a good easy website. I get comments from clients every now and then because of its ease to use.
I changed the format of my menu about 6 months back, and I am not 100% happy with it, but it suffices.

Websites-who maintains yours?
ย
I had a friend of mine design and maintain my website for a while, and I LOVE my site, I couldn't do anything that creative on my own. However, he has been very flaky lately and I can't rely on him to make changes, and when I tried to make a change, I messed something up (you can see what I'm talking about on the Services page, I somehow took out the graphics there). I would like to re-build/re-design my website and am looking for an easy HTML editor and some templates. I downloaded a free trial of Dreamweaver but man, that is involved!
Anyone have any ideas? I really can't afford to pay someone to design a new site and maintain it right now and for as little as I need to make changes, this is something I could do on my own, it's just finding a program easy enough to work with yet still professional looking.
Here's my site as it is now, www.massagebyrebecca.net
